Shop in Your House

Recent news reports that the U.S. economy has taken a downturn and inflation has increased. The Consumer Price Index shows that gasoline, as well as food and other needed items in our budgets have increased in price. As a result, many families are having to cut back on some of their other spending. However, there can be a silver lining to this problem.
As a professional organizer, I work with some families who have so many things in their homes that they don't really know what they have anymore. They feel overwhelmed with it all and haven't allocated the time it take to go through their things and organize them. NOW IS THE TIME!
There are two ways you can turn a problem into a solution:
1. Use the time that you would have spent shopping and organize your home. Begin with just one area. Remove everything from the area and sort into items you want to keep and those you can get rid of. Think carefully about where you want to store the items you will keep; choose a convenient location for items that you will use often.
2. If you need something, go through what you have in your house. You may have something that you can use to fill your needs. This is shopping in your own home.
The result is that you will have accomplished your goal of getting organized and you will have discovered things you didnt' know you had. You will have saved money by using what you already own. Plus, you will have discarded, by donating or selling, items that someone else can use.
